Canon Character Section:
History: Here!

Personality: So where do I even start with this kid.

Prior to receiving the bite from Derek, we're only given a glimpse of a side of Isaac that doesn't come back into play until near the end of season two. To say he's quiet and reserved would be putting it about as mildly as possible; during the conversation with Sheriff Stilinski at the cemetery, he only speaks when addressed directly, and even then it's only when his father doesn't speak over him. (I'm going to try to refrain from calling his dad an asshole too much during this but I can't help how I feel about him, so IGNORE ME. no i'm not making venture brothers references in an app what are you talking about.) It's plausible to assume a lot of his hesitance to talk at all has a lot to do with his father's history of abuse, and thus is the reason he's quick to excuse himself from the conversation by saying that he has an early lacrosse practice to get to.

So, he's pretty adept at getting himself out of situations he doesn't want to be in by being quietly awkward. Good to know.

Even after he goes to Derek, looking damn near scared out of his mind and at the end of his rope, that kickass confidence doesn't show up immediately. (Just wait. I'll get to that.) Talking about his grades with his father is a rather uncomfortable subject given the fact that he isn't doing all that great in Chemistry, and with the way he stumbles over his words and procrastinates on giving an answer as much as he possibly can all adds up to the fact that he's terrified of disappointing him. (Sure, it's because the fucker locks him in a freezer in the basement as punishment for that kind of thing but hey – every parent does that, right? Oh, they don't? Would someone tell him that please – oh. Never mind. He's dead. He got what he deserved and not just because he nearly let Matt Daehler drown.)

Once he hooks up with Derek – he's the very first Beta in his pack, yay! – and the new Alpha brings Erica and Boyd into the fold, he starts to act a little differently. This is when we start to see that confidence that everyone seems to pick up once they're changed. (Is that really a wolf thing? Can someone look that up?) Not only does he seem more than sure of himself, not hesitating in the slightest to come out with a sarcastic remark or some witty retort, (and, okay, in some instances he can be downright sadistic .. just ask Stiles about how he mentioned channeling all of his negative energy into killing Lydia) there's a change in his stance. In his outward demeanor to the effect that he doesn't even seem like the same person anymore. He walks with a bit of a swagger, always with the hint of a smirk at the corner of his mouth, that sort of thing. (Looks good on him, too. Oh, and if at any point my commentary gets annoying, feel free to tell me and I'll stop. Sometimes I just can't help myself.)

And thus, for a large chunk of time, he comes off as a cocky little shit more than willing to do anything Derek asks him to do – even if he comes back with a comment that the Alpha doesn't like every once in a while and ends up getting his arm broken. No big deal, no big deal. He's pretty much a mirror-image of the kid he'd been before, confident with sharp teeth and claws where he'd been so quiet and downright meek before. The gift of the bite had given him a sense of security that he desperately needed, the power within himself to take a stance where he hadn't been able to before – or where he'd simply thought that he wouldn't have been able to.

Despite having initially shown no sense of loss after his father was killed, it's a very subtle thing to return when the reminder of him ends up being what keeps him calm during the full moon. While it isn't immediately apparent that he's forgiven his father for everything he'd done to him while he was alive, focusing on that – that anger – has given him the strength he needs to maintain control of himself. He seems thankful for that, utilizes to the best of his ability, and becomes better for it.

Even though he gains confidence in himself throughout the events of season two, he still notably follows orders instead of thinking for himself for quite some time. He does everything Derek asks – okay, tells – him to do, regardless of how morally questionable it might be. (Like, killing Lydia, for example.) Toward the end of the confrontation with the Kanima, though, he begins to think independently. Wonders if he should follow Erica and Boyd when they decide to leave Derek's pack. He even goes so far as to ask Scott for his advice, just for the simple fact that the other seems to always do what he thinks is the right thing, and thus implies that Isaac himself wants to do the right thing. Wants to make the right decision.

One could even go so far as to say that he trusts Scott – and it goes without saying that trust isn't easy to come by with Isaac. He never gives it freely, but he does give it to those he deems worthy of having it. It .. just so happens that there aren't that many people around that he feels are.

In the end, he stays with Derek while the other two Betas go off on their own. It more than implies a level of loyalty to Derek, of trust in him. (I just hope that loyalty and trust isn't misplaced because, you know, Derek tends to fail at being an Alpha sometimes. Most of the time. I kind of wonder if he's even trying.)

What it all boils down to is this: while he does have some of that newfound self-assurance, he's still just a quiet, observant kid whose bark is worse than his bite. (Both literally and figuratively, in most cases. Also, he cries when he takes pain away from sick puppies. How is that not the most redeemable thing anyone ever convicted of killing their father has ever done.)

Powers/Abilties: Super duper werewolf powers. (I swear I'm taking this seriously. I just put shit like this in here to make the mediocrity of app-writing more tolerable.) Every time the full moon rolls around, he transforms into an entity with nice, sharp teeth and even sharper claws. Given the fact that he's found a way to help himself cope with his I-wanna-kill-everything-in-sight tendencies, he pretty much has that under control and you don't have to worry about finding your dog torn to shreds in your backyard or something. (Which means Prada is safe, Lydia! No worries!) But basically, he has super-senses. Auditory, olfactory, etc. He's pretty damn strong, too. Aaaand he can heal like nobody's business – which makes getting into fights totally not a big deal.

He also has cheekbones that I'm pretty sure could cut glass.
